Semi Pro DFS NHL Breakdown Mar 15th 2021

By David S McIvor                                                                                                       @SemiproDFS

Difficult is the best way to describe it…

That is the word I would use to chronicle my last 3 weeks of NHL involvement. Disheartened and discouraged would be other ways to relate to my slump. I have previously done the “walk away” mid season, and it’s always seems to right this ship. But I am a tad skeptical this time around as this is a very unusual season to say the least, part of me just wants to move right along to MLB…

But I ain’t no quitter. and I have a weeks worth of DFS budget saved to get back on the right track here. Lets jump back into this landscape of despair, shall we?

Predators (+255) @ Lightning (-310)

Maybe the only thing more disappointing than my season in NHL is the Predators Season, only 3 points removed from basement dwelling in the central. Goaltending would be the foremost issue but this team is not scoring either, despite being 5th in the league for shot attempts per game. I wouldn’t be surprised if this team blows up before deadline and we see Forsberg go to a contender. Lighting get the Dub here and I’m looking at the Gourde/Stamkos/Killorn 2nd line

Capitals (-225) @ Sabres (+185)

Call me crazy but I like Buffalo here, obviously the culture of the Sabres team has been toxic (previously and currently) but I think the star power they have can snap a 4 game winning streak for the caps. All we need is a lighting in a bottle goaltending performance by Hutton and for 2nd line Reinhart and Olofsson to push this team past a well-structured Caps team.

Flyers (-125) @ Rangers (+105)

Two teams that I liked preseason and two that are part of my ever long 20-21 disappointment run. I WILL NOT BACK OFF ZIBANEJAD. Leading the team with 74 total shots and only 3 goals… The time is coming for a big spot game, and with the current play of Philly; It could be tonight. I might take a stab at the Over @ 6 goals -120

Blackhawks (+150) @ Panthers (-170)

Chicago continues to surpass expectation, with the staying power of Patty Kane and the emergence of Alex DeBrincat, All seems well in the Windy city. Until they face the second overall scoring team in the NHL. I see Chicago getting absolutely PEPPERED here and unless Lankinen is some sort of miracle story, Florida wins handily.

Bruins (-115) @ Penguins (-105)

The battle of Black and Yellow. Boston line 1 will Club the Penguins here. Done.

Canucks (-170) @ Senators (+150)

Two bad defensive and goaltending teams. Only difference is Brady Tkachuk has almost DOUBLE the shot attempts than Van City’s leading shooter Captain Horvat. I’ll lean with stats here and say Ottawa wins wit a Brady game winner.

Canadiens (-129) @ Jets (EVEN)

Tough game personally for me to decide. Monteral Even Strength is one of the better teams in the league, and overall the better goaltending team; that will give me the edge on leaning Canadiens win. But with the firepower of Ehlers and Connor and the vision of Scheifele, it makes this a tough game to bet on. Pass for me.

Oilers (+105) @ Flames (-125)

McDavid and Draisaitl recreate the end rape scene in Pulp Fiction, but with no Bruce Willis to save Ving Rhames’s (Calgary’s) butt hole. Hate to say it but Edmonton smashes here.

Sharks (+205) @ Golden Knights (-245)

              Take Vegas.
